In Attention les Yeux (more or less : « What a sight! »), director Gérard Pirès, of whom you already saw those two delirious pieces of cinema : La Fete des Meres and Fantasia chez les ploucs (1971) Lino Ventura Jean Yanne Alain Delon Mireille Darc, tells about a film director who wants to make an XXX movie with the worst crew in the history of the moving pictures. The movie they decide on has nazis, cannibals, naked nurses, bondage… a typical CG movie if you ask me. Unfortunately, of course, it doesn’t exist, but this is the next best thing : its making of.
Lots of good actors such as Claude Brasseur, Guy Marchand, André Pousse, Daniel Auteuil or Anémone play the main parts of this quite funny, unpretentious but rather clever comedy – although it’s almost universally reviled, presumably because of the ample amount of naked female flesh on display : for the French movie critics, you can’t do that in a comedy and still be considered honorable ; if you want to show naked people and be applauded, they’d better be completely neurotic and unhappy and some of them must die before the end credits. But having fun with sex ? No way ! (End of rant.)
